Qriosity 2006 - a report from Basab

Please go through a report sent by Basab about Qriosity 2006 for us all. Also, I would like to take my hat off and salute the terrific contribution made by Basab to the club over the years as he graduates from the University......let us give him a standing ovation.

Basab's report follows -
The fourth edition of Qriosity was organised by JUQC in memory of Subho'da on 23rd September 2006. The quizmasters for the day were Dr. Abhijit Gupta and Dr. Samantak Das, teachers at Jadavpur University, Keen quizzers and known faces at the kolkata open quizzes, reputed newspaper columninst and former members of this club. The event started at 1:30 and was completed by 4:30. The winners comprised of a mixed team from JU Chemical engg. department and College of Ceramic Technology, Kolkata. The first and second runners-up teams were also mixed teams.
The participation was unfortunately an all time low of just 20 teams overall. this was mainly due to terrible weather conditions for about two days preceeding the event which forced some outstation teams from Kalyani, etc to cancel their participations; and of course due to the event being organised on the same day as another quiz organized at Oberoi Grand being anchored by Barry O' Brien. Participation was essentially limited only within regular college quizzers of Kolkata who have been associated with Qriosity before. The event was however hassle-free and went off smoothly without any delays or lapses of planning. The quiz was also of the same high standard that has been the hallmark of Qriosity and JU quizzing in particular and the small number of participants enjoyed thoroughly.
On a more personal note,as I sign off from my duties at JUQC, being in my final year, I'll look back with fond memories at my long association with this club. Right from my first year when I was just an overenthusiastic quizzer with hardly any experience, to now, JUQC has played a huge role in shaping my quizzing skills and also the experience of organizing events independently. I'll cherish my association with all my seniors, friends and even juniors, all of who have contributed to my learning. I'm moving from JUQC with the complete confidence that JU quizzing will continue to maintain the same high standards that we all have painstakingly maintained over the years, thanks to the presence of some very talented new quizzers. The flag of Qriosity will also continue to fly high, and hopefully we will recover to reclaimthe success of Qriosity 2003, the inaugural edition, where we had 73 teams.
Regards,

Basab Chakrabarty
UG IV, Chemical Engg. JU.
